Hello Mikko.

Hats off to another great discussion. I myself is into this intercultural thing. I am Asian while my special someone is an American; add to that our sweet blend of May-December relationship. That makes us two entirely different individuals and challenged by two generations apart. Yet, what I find most charming about this genre of relationship is: how two people work together in order to achieve balance between diversity and inclusiveness. Acceptance of individual differences at the on-set helps a person to embrace new culture, traditions, beliefs and as you pointed out, frame of references. I actually find this as an advantage for couples, as each one tries to unlearn and relearn where the other half is coming from. What great joy can there be to be invited and share a whole new world!

I look forward to your helpful insights on how to better accept differences and communicate ideas. This would definitely further assist people who are on my same boat. I trust that through sincere efforts along with your suggestions/tips, I would continuously learn and grow in greater faith, hope and love.

Another great read! Most of the men that I have dated or been in a relationship with have been of a different cultural background than myself, which I've never found to be a problem. My most recent boyfriend had great respect for me as a person and my culture and was quite fascinated with other cultures in general. I never saw race to be any sort of issue in any of my relationships nor should it be. Other cultures have been quite intriguing to me and in getting to know the people I've dated, I've gotten to know more about their cultural background. Like you said, it's given me a great respect for the other person to see where they came from.

Hi Isabelle and welcome to our relationship community. Yes, I agree with you that what I wrote can definitely be said about all relationships.
I believe that learning to accept, understand, and respect is the starting point for good communication in relationships. And the more differences
there are amongst the couple the more awareness the couple needs to develop to understand them in a positive way. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I really enjoyed this article. I think this can be said about any relationship just for the fact that we are all different and do have different opinions and values so that without good communication it is hard to have a positive relationship anyways.
