Hello Mikko and thank you for your articles, they are food for the soul :)
I identify to your article (Ref. *Parent's influence, especially my mom*) and have been fighting the feelings of unworthiness for so long, weird though, I never succeed in overcoming them completely, and the weirdest thing is that, even though in my mind, I know I deserve better and I move from one thing to another because I think in such way that I actually deserve better, I always end up making the Harmefull choices in my life, wether in liking a guy, in choosing friends and I end up surrendering again to the helpless feeling I was trying to fight.

I don't know what's the remedy for my case though, I am a single 28 years old woman, in a constant struggle between Boosting my low self esteem one time, and trying to control my Ego another time, so when people meet me, either they think I am very nice and sweet, or they think I am arrogant and tuff

Thank you for the advice

Stella

You are welcome Sheila,

Thank you for your nice words. And yes, I never thought about it that way, but yes, we always do add those two ingredients in prayers, very interesting isn't? You said: "Help us to fully accept and understand that men are openly waiting to be asked to also give love and support." The truth is that we men are waiting to be asked to give love and support; however, it does not always seem that way. And I will write my next blog post explaining why :).

Wishing you lots of love and support!

Hi Mikko,

Appreciate your prompt reply. I have learned two great lessons from you. To express appreciation & simply keep asking. It's funny to think how people unconsciously add these same two ingredients in prayers! But feel uneasy putting them into practice within their relationships. As you said, women should believe that we are worthy and deserving of equal love and kindness from the men in our lives. Mikko, help us to see this light and guide us to outgrow our old beliefs about our self-worth. Help us to fully accept and understand that men are openly waiting to be asked to also give love and support. This is a serious battle between me and myself which I intend to win along with you and everbody's encourgement and support.

Thank you and may you be of greater help to more people.

Hi Sheila,

Thank you very much for your comment! I am definitely writing some follow up to this topic soon. In the meanwhile, take a look at couple of the articles that I have already written: The Secret To Getting A Guy To Do Anything You Want and How To Set Limits To His Unacceptable Behavior. You are already on the right track, asking is the key. And these two articles explains a little further on how to ask in a way that works for men. Make sure to leave me some comments and thoughts again. Wish you the best,
Mikko

Good day Mikko,

Hi, like most women, asking or making a request to a man is one of the most difficult things for me to do. First of, I think this is because my mother led me to believe that women should not be of any inconvenience to anyone & that women must avoid being a burden and getting into other people's way. Now that I am grown up and more mature, I realise that this is wrong and a very unhealthy belief. I would highly appreciate if you would post helpful tips and/or advices on how women can sincerely and openly communicate where they are coming from and tell men their hopes and expectations from a romantic relationship. I have accepted that there is no best way to have what I want other thant to ask. So I believe there should be a loving and effective way to do this. Many thanks in advance and more power to you!!!

Hi Urbanchick, you are making a great point. I agree, I think women often simply do not know how to ask a guy to do something in a way that works. And yes, it is very easy for a guy to interpret your request in a wrong way if you don't ask with a trusting tone. Guys, don't mind to be challenged or asked, but it is all in the approach. Thanks again for you comment!

Great stuff, Mikko. It's true, women often feel uncomfortable asking for what they want, whether it's in a relationship or in the workplace. Guys tend to be much better at this.

I think women also feel apprehansive about asking for what they want because they don't know how. According to the advice out there, we're told to be assertive, yet not come across as 'nagging' or making the guy feel badly because we'd rather do X when he's planned for us to do Y and telling him so will crush his sensitive ego.

I also dated a guy who fits your description above. He was so wound up in a mistake he made in the past he was unable to enjoy a fulfulling relationship. As a result, every time he met a terrific gal he freaked out after 2 months and sabotaged things, yet ended up pursuing women who weren't, let's say, LTR material. All the while complaining about how he can't meet a nice girl.
