On-Line Dating, Have You Tried It?

couple-in-paris

Have you ever tried on-line dating sites? Do you have any experiences to share? I would love to hear from you? What have you find good or bad about them?

I have seen many of these on-line dating sites getting more and more popular and a part of me wanted to try one, but then on a second thought I just could not see my-self paying for any of them just to try to connect with people. So with that thought I decided to create a brand new entirely free on-line dating community where you don’t have to pay a single penny to find love and connect with people.

For a beta version of it, visit: http://www.socialdatingmedia.ning.com
Just sign up, it does not cost you a thing and never will.

So as one of my readers, would you check it out and let me know your honest opinions about it, about the design, the layout, the features, and your initial thoughts? And please share any on-line dating experiences you may have or the type of a community which you would like to join, if any. My mission is to create a community that would be much more than just an on-line dating community, more of a community with dating resources, expert interviews, dating tips, forums for friendly debates and discussions and much more.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey, now that you have taken the time to read my article, please take a little more a make sure to leave me a comment below :) or take a look at some of my other articles here!

  • I like the way the site looks. I think it's great that you include an article and many other resources so that it's not just like any other free dating site.
I started trying online dating sites about three years ago, after accidentally dating a guy I met on Myspace. I do not like the pay sites and in my city, I was seeing the same people on different sites. The hardest part about online dating is being subjected to scrutiny and judgement in a way you wouldn't if you were to meet a person in real life first. People's real standards don't get higher but their physical ones do. Someone has to decide if they want to date you based on a two dimensional representation of you, and few people look their best in pictures. I am in a long term relationship now with someone I met on Craigslist almost two years ago, and when we finally met face to face, he said my pictures did me no justice. What a compliment, but it's just a reminder that even your best sometimes isn't good enough online.
Also, I have had personal issues with interracial dating online. Sparing you lots of details and theories, I will just say that I find that people can make connections to your personality but are a lot less open to dating outside of their race. It's unfortunate but for people who ARE open to all races, it can sometimes be harder.
Anyway, I like your site. :)

    Mikko,

Hello. I visited your free online dating website and found it to be promising. Hope more people would take time to sign-up and see for themselves whether online dating really works.

One quick question though, how long does an average online dating seeker stays active and interested to participate? Kindly share any personal insights you may have on what indicators to look for when choosing to become serious with one contact, like when does one shift from online dating and to in-person dating and more. For those who are on the look for serious relationships, numbers game is not much in their genre. Please advise. Many thanks again!
  • Thanks for sharing Honey!

  • I tried a couple of pay sites initially and ended up on Match.com from 2003-2006.  I went on hundreds of dates, but I ended up meeting my boyfriend on MySpace, of all places.

If you are a woman, the paid sites "pay" for themselves, since most men will offer to pay for dinner.
